Check for any damage to the door seal or obstructions. Perform a power reset, observe the door lock mechanism, and inspect the wiring connections.
dE2 Error Codes The error is similar to the previous “dE” and “dE1” codes – Door Lock Error. Door Lock Assembly, Door Lock Sensor or Switch, Wiring Harness, Control Board or Mechanical Parts Ensure the door is firmly closed, examine the door lock mechanism for damage or blockages, execute a power reset, confirm the door lock is functioning correctly, and check the wiring connections.
CE Error Code A short circuit in your machine. Wiring, Motor or Circuit Control Board Turn off, unplug for 10 seconds, then plug and start a wash cycle.
Sud Error Code Excessive suds. The machine starts a suds-reduction cycle for up to 2 hours. Water Hose, Water Line, Drain Hose, Drain Pump, Water Level Pressure Switch or Detergent Amount Sud code might result from a hose or line clog, causing a backup. Clear the clog and rerun the cycle. If the issue continues, reduce detergent use.
Cd Error Code The CD isn’t a true error code. It signifies a post-drying cool-down. Electronic Control Panel or Drying Cycle Completion If the machine’s fine, no action is needed. The code clears after the cycle. If not, it might indicate electronic failure. Consider a service call. First, unplug for 10 seconds.
PE Error Code The water level sensor is not reading properly. Water Level Sensor, Wiring Connections or Control Board Unplug for 10 seconds, then run another cycle.
PF Error Code Power failure during the wash cycle indicates disruption to the machine’s power. Power Cord, External Power Supply, Circuit Breaker, Control Board or Wire Harness Connections After power is restored, the code should clear upon cycle restart. If the issue persists, check the tripped breaker and cord connection.
tE Error Code Indication of a heating error. Thermistor (Temperature Sensor), Control Board or Wiring Harness Connections Unplug for 10 seconds. After plugging in, press and hold the spin speed button. Release when "No Spin" is highlighted. Once fully drained, start a new wash cycle.
Time Does Not Advance Error Code Time Does Not Advance error can occur due to load size, weight, suds, or water temperature. The washer might extend the cycle, triggering the error. Lid Switch, Timer, Motor, Water Level Controller, Drain Pump, Water Inlet Valve or Control Board Decrease load size, use less detergent for fewer suds, or unplug for 10 seconds. Plug and retry.
Buttons Do Not Respond Error Code The button you’re pressing is unavailable for this cycle or can’t be used with another option simultaneously. Control Panel, Child Lock Button, Control Board, Button Contacts or Wiring Connections Attempt separate use of specific options. For instance, a child lock option might be active. Cancelling it might resolve the issue.

FE Error Code: Washing Machine is Overfilling

Condition:
The washer is overfilled with water. This is usually the result of a faulty water valve.

Parts where possible failure may take place:
Inlet water valve assembly.

How to fix the problem yourself:
Close both water taps. To release any retained water, switch the washer back on, press the spin button until "No Spin" is chosen, and then hit the start/pause button. After the washer drains, restart the washing cycle. If the FE error code persists, schedule a service call with our LG appliance technician.

OE Error Code: Drains Slowly

Condition:
From our experience, this is one of the most common error codes. It usually occurs because the washing machine is not being used correctly. The "OE" error code typically indicates a drainage issue. It shows an Outlet Error or a Drain Error. This means that the machine is not draining water properly, which could be due to a clogged drain filter, a kinked or blocked drain hose, or a malfunctioning drain pump.

Parts where possible failure may take place:
Drain hose or the drain pump.

How to fix the problem yourself:
If you notice an obvious kink in the drain hose, straighten it, and the problem should be resolved. However, if the error code isn't clear, there may be a clog in the hose. Check each section of the hose for clogs; if you find one, try to remove it from the hose. If neither of these solutions resolves the issue, it could suggest a malfunctioning drain pump. We recommend scheduling diagnostics and repairs with a factory-authorized LG appliance technician if you are located within our service area.

IE Error Code: Inlet Water Supply

Condition:
The washer isn’t able to fill the load with water.

Parts where possible failure may take place:
The drain hose may be installed incorrectly, your supply taps may be closed, you may have a kinked or damaged inlet hose, or it could simply be a clogged inlet filter.

How to fix the problem yourself:
Start by checking for a clogged inlet filter. If this doesn’t work, check that your drain hose is installed correctly and that your supply taps are open. Contact us for same-day service if you cannot clear the error code.

UE or UB Error Code: Unbalanced Load

Condition:
The load is unbalanced.

Parts where possible failure may take place:
Drum unit of the washer.

How to fix the problem yourself:
Stop the machine and open the door. Move the clothing in the drum so the load is evenly distributed.

CL Error Code: Child Safety Lock

Condition:
The CL error code isn’t an error code. This message lets you know that the child safety lock has been activated.

Parts where possible failure may take place:
Child safety lock.

How to fix the problem yourself:
Press and hold your finger on the child lock button for at least 3 seconds. This action should reset the code, enabling you to resume using the washing machine. If this proves ineffective, it signals a mechanical failure, and it’s recommended to arrange for a visit from one of our LG repair technicians.

LE Error Code: Locked Drive Motor

Condition:
This is a very common error code, too, which means that your machine's drum fails to spin due to an issue with your LG washer's motor. The motor is locked out. This typically indicates that the load in the machine is too heavy, creating excessive stress on the motor.

Another option is the LE error code, which indicates a malfunctioning motor sensor that controls the motor's speed and provides communication with the PCB board. Typically, the LE code occurs at the beginning of any cycle when the washing machine finishes filling up with water, and the motor should start to run. However, instead of starting normal operation, the washing machine drum begins to make shaking movements instead of turning, and the LE code appears within a few seconds.

Parts where possible failure may take place:
Washing machine motor stator or rotor position sensor switch.

How to fix the problem yourself:
Reduce the load size and press the reset button on the machine. We recommend contacting our service department for on-site diagnostic and repair service if this doesn't clear the code.

LE Error Code LG washing machine rotor position sensor switch replacement
In this image: Hall sensor faulty replacement by Spark Service tech on LG model WM2277HW

Let's look at an example from our previous job experience with a very common LG Washer. The rotor position sensor, also known as the hall sensor, is an integral part of your washing machine's automated system. It assists the control board in ensuring the machine's smooth operation. Essentially, the hall sensor monitors the washer’s motor to guarantee it functions correctly and at the appropriate times throughout the washing cycle.

In LG washing machines, the hall sensor monitors whether the motor is in motion. When the control panel indicates an “LE” error code, the hall sensor signals that the drum isn’t turning due to either a motor failure or a loose wire harness connecting the hall sensor to the control panel. Verifying the security of the wire harness on the hall sensor and conducting a sensor test can help determine if replacement is necessary.

tCL Error Code: Tub Clean Cycle

Condition:
The tCL error code tells you when to run the clean tub cycle. Detergent and other residues can accumulate in the tub over time, staining your clothing.

Parts where possible failure may take place:
Washing machine tub.

How to fix the problem yourself:
Start by ensuring the tub is empty, then fill the detergent dispenser with bleach and select the clean cycle option. If you still see the error code after running the cycle, contact Spark Service PRO for further assistance.

dE Error Codes: Door is Open

There are 3 different dE error codes:

  • dE
  • dE1
  • dE2

Condition:
All of these errors indicate that the door was unable to lock for some reason.

Parts where possible failure may take place:
Door locking mechanism assembly.

How to fix the problem yourself:
Turn off the machine by pressing the power button and unplugging it. Subsequently, press and hold the Start/Pause button for 5 seconds. When the machine is restarted, the circuit PCB board will be reset.

dE1 Error Code: Door Lock Error

Condition:
The dE1 error code refers explicitly to a door-locking issue on your LG washing machine.

Parts where possible failure may take place:
Door locking mechanism.

How to fix the problem yourself:
Please turn OFF the machine using the power button and unplug it. Press and hold the Start/Pause button for approximately 5 seconds. After restarting the machine, the circuit PCB board will reset, allowing you to close and lock the door securely.

dE2 Error Code: Door Lock Error

Condition:
If you encounter the dE2 error code on your LG washing machine, it indicates a problem with the door locking mechanism.

Parts where possible failure may take place:
Door locking mechanism.

How to fix the problem yourself:
To address the dE2 error, start by turning off the machine using the power button and disconnecting the power. Then, press and hold the Start/Pause button for around 5 seconds. Upon restarting the machine, the circuit PCB board will reset, permitting you to close and secure the door successfully. If the issue persists, the door lock mechanism must be replaced.

Approximately 90% of attempts to resolve the LG washing machine error code dE, indicating a failure to lock the washer door, result in the need to call a service center within a few weeks. Often, attempting self-repairs leads to further issues, potentially causing damage to other parts of the appliance. I strongly recommend contacting the authorized service center promptly to prevent unnecessary expenditure of time and money.

Oleg Chudnovski, CEO

CE Error Code: Overcurrent in the Electrical Circuit

Condition:
A short circuit in your machine.

Parts where possible failure may take place:
Wiring, broken motor, or power control board.

How to fix the problem yourself:
Power off your machine and unplug it for 10 seconds. Plug the machine back in and try to run a washing cycle. If the error code still appears, you will need authorized technical assistance.

Sud Error Code: Suds Reducing Cycle

Condition:
There are too many suds in your load. The appliance will automatically initiate a cycle designed to reduce suds, which may last up to 2 hours.

Parts where possible failure may take place:
Water hose or water line.

How to fix the problem yourself:
The Sud error code may appear due to a blockage in your water hose or water line, causing a backup. Initially, clear the obstruction and run the cycle again. If the issue persists, consider reducing the amount of detergent used in your loads.

Cd Error Code: Cool Down

Condition:
CD error is not a real error code. Instead, this is a message the machine displays to indicate the cool-down period after the drying cycle is complete.

Parts where possible failure may take place:
Electronic control panel malfunction.

How to fix the problem yourself:
If your machine is functioning properly, no action is required. The code should clear once the cycle is complete. If it doesn’t, it may indicate an electronic failure, at which point it’s best to request a service call. Before doing that, try unplugging your machine for 10 seconds first.

PE Error Code: Water Level Sensor

Condition:
The water level sensor is not reading properly.

Parts where possible failure may take place:
Water level sensor.

How to fix the problem yourself:
Unplug the machine for 10 seconds. Once you’ve done this, try to run another cycle. If the error code remains, contact us for service assistance.

PF Error Code: Power Failure

Condition:
When you experience a power failure during your washing cycle, it’s a sign that the power to your machine has been disrupted during your load.

Parts where possible failure may take place:
Washing machine cord, external power supply

How to fix the problem yourself:
Once power is fully restored, this error code should clear on its own — all you have to do is restart the cycle. However, if you continue to experience problems, check for a tripped breaker and confirm the cord is plugged in properly. If these solutions don’t help, the next step is to request a service call from Spark Service PRO.

tE Error Code: Heating Error

Condition:
Indication of a heating error.

Parts where possible failure may take place:
The most common cause is a faulty thermistor, which is a sensor that measures heat.

How to fix the problem yourself:
Unplug your machine for 10-15 seconds. After reconnecting the machine, press and hold the spin speed button. Release the button once you see "No spin" highlighted. Once the machine is completely drained, you can initiate a new washing cycle.

Error Code: Time Does Not Advance

Condition:
The Time Does Not Advance error may occur for several reasons. For example, it may be caused by the size of the load, the weight of the load, the amount of suds, or the water temperature. These can cause your washer to extend its cycle time, producing the error.

Parts where possible failure may take place:
A lid switch, timer, motor, water level controller, drain pump, and water inlet valve.

How to fix the problem yourself:
Reduce your load size and weight, use less detergent to reduce suds or unplug your machine for 10 seconds. Next, reconnect the power and try again.

Error Code: Buttons Do Not Respond

Condition:
The button you’re trying to press is unavailable for the current cycle or can’t be used simultaneously with another option.

Parts where possible failure may take place:
The control panel malfunctioned, and the child door lock was enabled.

How to fix the problem yourself:
Try to use certain options separately. For example, you may also have the child door lock enabled. Clearing this will remove the error code.

Why does PE appear every time I start my LG washing machine?
I kept restarting it, but it still didn’t work.

Hello Janice Badonio,
The “PE” error code on an LG washing machine typically stands for “Pressure Sensor Error” or “Water Level Sensor Error.” This error occurs when the washing machine cannot detect the water level properly. There are a few possible reasons for this issue:

  1. Water Supply Issue: Ensure the water supply to the washing machine is adequate. Check if the water faucets are fully open and that there are no kinks or obstructions in the water hoses.
  2. Water Inlet Valve: The water inlet valve controls water flow into the washing machine. If the valve is faulty or clogged, it may not allow enough water to enter the machine. Inspect the valve for any signs of damage or debris.
  3. Pressure Sensor: The pressure sensor, also known as the water level sensor, is responsible for detecting the water level in the machine. If it malfunctions, it can result in the PE error. The sensor might need to be replaced if it’s defective.
  4. Drainage Issue: Ensure that the drainage system is working correctly. If the water doesn’t drain properly, it can interfere with the water level sensing mechanism.
  5. Faulty Control Board: A malfunctioning control board could sometimes cause a PE error. If other components are working fine, but the error persists, it might be worth considering the control board as a possible culprit.
  6. Professional Assistance: If you’ve checked the basic elements such as water supply, hoses, and drainage, and the problem persists, it’s recommended that you contact Spark Service PRO, LG appliance repair center, and schedule a visit with our qualified technician for further assistance. They may be able to diagnose the issue more accurately and provide guidance on the necessary repairs or parts replacement. Call us today for same-day repair at  888-242-0777.

My LG front loader will not drain. I have checked the hose, no kinks and no blockages. Can you suggest any before I have to call for a service? Thanks

Squealing sound when drum turns.
Stops in middle of cycle with error code UE
Even when nothing is in machine.
Squealing can be heard when manually spinning drum

Hello Joel Russo,
Your washing machine drum is unbalanced if the appliance displays the error code “UE”. To solve the problem with your LG washing machine, I can try to provide you with some tips:

  1. Inspect Drum Bearings: If the squealing persists when manually spinning the drum, it could indicate worn-out or faulty drum bearings. Consider calling a technician to inspect and replace the bearings if necessary.
  2. Error Code UE: The UE error code typically indicates an unbalanced load. Even when the drum is empty, this error can occur due to internal issues. Try redistributing the load evenly within the drum and ensuring the machine is level on the floor.
  3. Levelling the Machine: Use a spirit level to check if the washing machine is properly levelled. Adjust the machine’s feet as needed to maintain stability and balance.
  4. Reset the Machine: Sometimes, a simple reset can resolve minor issues. Turn off the washing machine, unplug it from the power source for a few minutes, then plug it back in and restart.
  5. Professional Assistance: If the problem persists after trying these steps, it may require professional repair. Contact our authorized LG service department at 647-503-6655 if you are located in Toronto or the GTA and surrounding areas.

Hi
Right now I am encountering error 13 from my feonr load washing machine. How can I fix it?

Hello Gloria
Error code 13 on an LG washing machine typically relates to a water supply problem. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially fix the issue:

1. Check Water Supply
2. Inspect the Water Inlet Hose
3. Clean Filters
4. Check Water Pressure
5. Reset by turn power off for a few minutes
6. Contact LG Tech Support

Hello there.

I have a 12 year old front load LG WM2100HW. Been a workhorse throughout the years. For some reason now, whenever you start a load, the only thing it wants to do is run the drain pump. When I run it through diagnostics there is no error code.

I have already replaced the control board in the back of the washer. Still did it. I just now finished flushing out the drain hose, and REPLACED the pump itself.

I tried to do a tub clean. it spun for one moment (to check for loads) and then promptly started the drain motor again. So, bottom line, I cannot get the drain pump to stop running. Something is telling the pump to run (and it runs even if it’s dry).

What else is left? Wearing out screws diassembling and reassembling over and over again, and after 12-13 years, something will snap. Any suggestions?

Thank you for any assistance.

Hello Karl J,
It sounds like your LG WM2100HW washing machine is stuck in a drain cycle due to a malfunctioning component that falsely signals the control board to keep the drain pump running. Since you’ve already replaced the control board and the drain pump itself, there is one more area to check:

Water Level Sensor (Pressure Switch): The water level sensor or pressure switch might be faulty. This sensor detects the water level in the tub and signals the control board accordingly. If it’s malfunctioning, it could send incorrect signals, making the control board think there’s water to be drained. Check the hose connected to the pressure switch for any clogs or kinks. If the hose is clear, the switch might need replacing.

p.s. Considering the age of the machine, if the repair costs are substantial, you might also consider if it’s more cost-effective to replace the washing machine.

Wondering if you could help. I have a front load wash machine and I have the following error codes: U:22, d:03 and 16:6P …. sounds like alot right? Any informatiion would be helpful.
Thanks

Hello Ron Sanko
Sure, I can help with that. Error codes on washing machines indicate specific issues that need attention. Let’s break down the error codes you’ve provided:

U:22: This error code typically indicates an unbalanced load or overloading for LG washing machines. To resolve this, try the following steps:

  • Pause the cycle and redistribute the clothes evenly in the drum.
  • Reduce the load size if the machine is overloaded.
  • Make sure the washing machine is on a level surface.

d:03: This error code usually signifies a drainage issue. Follow these steps to troubleshoot:

  • Check the drain hose for any kinks or blockages.
  • Inspect and clean the pump filter (usually located at the bottom front of the machine).
  • Ensure the drain pump is working properly. If not, it might need replacement.

16:6P: This error code is less common and may indicate a more specific issue related to the machine’s internal components, such as the control board or sensors. For this error, it is recommended to:

  • Turn off the machine, unplug it, and wait a few minutes before restarting.
  • If the error persists, refer to the LG user manual for guidance.

If these steps do not resolve the issues, it might be best to contact our LG-authorized technician at 647-503-6655 if you are in our service area to inspect and repair the washing machine.

My LG WM2355CS washer will not turn on the power and pause button are flashing and on the display are 3 slashes. Non of the lights on the dial are turning on

Hello Michael Brown,
If your LG WM2355CS washer won’t power on, and the Power and Pause buttons are flashing while the display shows three dashes (—), this usually indicates a communication or control board error. Here’s a breakdown of what could be happening and what steps you can take:

  1. Control board failure (main PCB or user interface board)
  2. Loose or damaged wiring harness
  3. Power supply issue (voltage drop or surge)
  4. Stuck or shorted button (Power or Pause)
  5. Error code that hasn’t been fully displayed yet (— is often a placeholder)

If these causes do not resolve the issues, it may be best to contact our LG-authorized technician at 647-503-6655 if you are within our service area, so they can inspect and repair your LG washing machine.
