A dishwasher is a useful appliance often found in homes. The most popular brand is LG. However, several LG dishwasher troubleshooting problems may occur during its operation.

Despite LG’s reputation for high-quality appliances, you may encounter various LG dishwasher error codes. Some are easy to repair, while others may require a plumber or technician assistant.

However, first, you need to identify what the LG dishwasher error codes mean before finding a solution to fix the device. Read below to find out the error codes and how to resolve them.

What Do LG Dishwasher Error Codes Mean?

These error code descriptions can assist you in determining an issue with your LG dishwasher.

Error Code Meaning Solution
CL The LG dishwasher CL code indicates that the Child Lock or Control Lock options have been switched on. Press the Dual Zone to activate or deactivate the lock.
LE The LG dishwasher LE error shows an issue with a motor or the wiring harness that connects the motor to the control board. Click the POWER button to turn off the device. Turn off the circuit breaker for 10 seconds, then switch it on again. Press the POWER button to start the wash cycle.
HE The LG dishwasher HE error code appears when the item can’t heat water, or the liquid is overheated above 149F. Click the POWER button to turn off the device. Turn off the circuit breaker for 10 seconds, then switch it on again. Press the POWER button to start the wash cycle.
P1 The LG dishwasher P1 code is not an error. It means “Pots & Pans”. The device cleanses heavily soiled cookware.
6E The LG dishwasher 6E error code means the panel identified a stuck button. Switch the dishwasher.
E1 The LG dishwasher E1 error is a leak inside the dishwasher that activated the float switch. Find and fix the potential leak issue.

You may read the LG dishwasher troubleshooting manual to determine the error code displayed on the device.

What are The Most Common Error Codes?

An Error Code is likely if you see a blinking light on your dishwasher. Read below to learn how to fix certain problems with the appliance.

IE Error Code

An IE error code on an LG dishwasher indicates it isn’t filled with water. Naturally, this implies that your dishes will not be washed. However, there are a few basic methods for testing your water connection.

The first step is to check your water supply is separated from the valve to ensure it is completely open. Also, inspect your water intake supply hose for kinks. In addition, examine the filter screen on the water entry valve for any obstructions. If you detect any clogs, remove them, and your LG dishwasher should work again fully.

Error Code nE

This error code means a diverter motor failure. Inspect the wire harness connections on the diverter motor and position switch.

To do so, unplug the LG dishwasher’s power supply. All disconnected wires should be rejoined. If they are not loose, disconnect them and determine the motor’s resistance by using a multimeter. If there is an infinite resistance, you must change the diverter motor.

HE Error Code

When you notice this error number, your dishwasher’s thermistor or temperature gauge detects that the water is not heating or above the recommended temperature.

If the dishwasher’s temperature sensor indicates a higher temperature than is typical for an effective LG dishwasher functioning, you may need to switch out the electronic control board. This is due to a blocked heater relay on the control board, which always keeps the heating element on.

Error Code OE

An OE error code indicates a clog in the sink drain or waste disposal. Nevertheless, if you examine both of the elements and they operate as usual, then inspect the dishwashing hose.

Unplug it from the sink of the garbage disposal connector and inspect for grease clogs. The LG dishwasher may have an air gap, so you should clear any blockages. Don’t forget to switch the dishwasher off from the power source. Also, check the sump and drain pumps for dirty elements.

E1 or AE Error Code

A low tub water level or an excessive circulation pump speed might trigger an LG dishwasher error E1 or AE. It may also get some water into the bottom of the appliance cabinet, causing the flood switch.

Disconnect the dishwasher and turn off the water supply. The liquid may leak from the fill line, drain pump, hose, door seals, or sump. As a result, call a professional to fix the dishwasher.<

Error Code LE

The LE error appears when the pump impeller is clogged and unable to spin. Disconnect the dishwasher, check for clogs, and clear the sump from foreign objects and dirt.

To ensure the sump is clean, examine the pump’s wiring connections and reconnect any unplugged ones. If you haven’t found the issue, call a plumber or technical expert, who will examine the appliance’s resistance using a multimeter.

Error code FE

This error code means that your dishwasher’s drain pump will operate automatically. A leaking water inlet valve or a blocked sensor on the electronic control panel may cause your dishwasher to fill continuously.

You should disconnect the dishwasher and observe whether it remains filled with water. If this happens, you should replace the water inlet valve.

tE Error Code

The tE error indicates that the thermistor may be malfunctioning. Check the component for ohms and temperature within an acceptable range. If the measurements are lower than the standard ones, change the thermistor.

Conclusion

If your LG dishwasher displays error codes or visibly malfunctions, attempt to examine the issue properly. Some of these can be readily resolved with basic troubleshooting, restarting the dishwasher, or simply replacing a component.

However, some failures are better left to qualified repair technicians, particularly when safety is a concern. Contact your appliance repair professionals to provide the LG dishwasher diagnostic mode and fix it swiftly and under warranty.
